Tonal Rules and Alternations:
Other Rules:
Within a prosodic word, there is a set of sandhi alternations conditioned by a preceding /55/ or /52/ tone. In this environent, /35/ -> [33], /33/ -> [22], /52/ -> [21h], /21q/ -> [21h].

In one reduplication contruction applying only to monosyllabic expressives, the reduplicant always bears the /55/ tone.

Lexical Domains:
Tone sandhi occurs only within prosodic words, although these words may have internal syntactic structure. Thus, tone sandhi occurs not only in environments derived by compounding and affixation, but also in numeral-classifier constructions.

Postlexical Domains:
Tone sandhi occurs postlexically (since it is triggered by both morphologically and syntactically derived environments) but always takes the prosodic word as its domain.
